Call for Articles, Lecale Review, 24 (2026)

The annual publication of the Lecale & Downe Historical Society’s Lecale Review will be launched in October.

The editorial committee welcomes submissions from members of the Society and those with an interest in the history of Lecale and the wider County Down. We particularly welcome submissions from anyone who has not had work published before.

Submissions can range from a few hundred words to a maximum of 6,000 words.

Examples:

• A short commentary on/description of an old photograph or object relating to the locality. Accompanying photographs should be of good quality and high resolution.
• An anecdote or story of working, religious, sporting, cultural life in the area.
• A longer, referenced article (max. 6,000 words) on an aspect of Lecale and County Down history. Accompanying photographs should be of good quality and high resolution.

Where images are not part of a family archive or taken by the author, permission to publish by the copyright holder must be obtained and communicated in writing to the editorial committee.

The Editorial Committee and the Trustees reserve the right to select articles for submission. Submissions must be received by 31 July 2026 to allow time for the editing and formatting of the journal.

The Editorial Committee
